पाकिस्तानियों को उनके देश वापस भेजने के केंद्र सरकार के आदेश के बाद सीमा हैदर ने प्रधानमंत्री और उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री से उसे भारत में रहने देने की गुहार लगाते करते हुए कहा कि वह बेशक पाकिस्तान की बेटी थी लेकिन अब बहू भारत की है।

सीमा हैदर 2023 में राजनीति या प्रसिद्धि के लिए नहीं बल्कि सीमाओं को पार करने वाली एक प्रेम कहानी के लिए लोकप्रिय नाम बन गई। पाकिस्तान से चार बच्चों की मां सीमा ने तब सुर्खियां बटोरीं जब वह कोविड-19 महामारी के दौरान ऑनलाइन मिले भारतीय व्यक्ति सचिन मीना के साथ रहने के लिए नेपाल के रास्ते अवैध रूप से भारत में प्रवेश कर गई। उनका आभासी रोमांस वास्तविक जीवन के प्यार में बदल गया और 2024 में उनकी शादी और उनकी बेटी भारती के जन्म का कारण बना।

पाकिस्तानियों को उनके देश वापस भेजने के केंद्र सरकार के आदेश के बाद सीमा हैदर ने प्रधानमंत्री और उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री से उसे भारत में रहने देने की गुहार लगाते करते हुए कहा कि वह बेशक पाकिस्तान की बेटी थी लेकिन अब बहू भारत की है।
दो साल पहले सीमा ने अपने चार बच्चों के साथ कथित तौर पर अवैध रूप से भारत में प्रवेश किया था और गौतमबुद्ध नगर जिले में सचिन मीणा के साथ रह रही है। सीमा का दावा है कि सचिन से शादी के बाद उसने हिंदू धर्म अपना लिया है।
सीमा ने शुक्रवार शाम सोशल मीडिया मंच ‘इंस्टाग्राम’ पर वीडियो साझा किया जिसमें एक व्यक्ति उससे कुछ पूछता है।

इस पर सीमा कहती है, ‘‘मैं पाकिस्तान नहीं जाना चाहती सर।’’
इसके बाद वह व्यक्ति पूछता है कि मोदी (प्रधानमंत्री) जी से क्या गुहार लगाना चाहेंगी। इस पर सीमा को यह कहते सुना जा सकता है, ‘‘मैं यही गुहार लगाना चाहूंगी मोदी जी और योगी जी (उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ) से कि मैं इनकी शरण में हूं, मैं इनकी अमानत हूं, बेटी पाकिस्तान की थी लेकिन बहू भारत की हूं। मुझे यहां रहने दिया जाए।’’
इसी साल सीमा ने 18 मार्च को एक बेटी को जन्म दिया था।
पाकिस्तान के सिंध प्रांत के जैकोबाबाद की निवासी सीमा मई 2023 में कराची में अपने घर को छोड़कर बच्चों के साथ नेपाल के रास्ते भारत आ गई थी।
उसने जुलाई में उस समय सुर्खियां बटोरीं, जब भारतीय अधिकारियों ने उसे उत्तर प्रदेश के गौतमबुद्ध नगर जिले के रबूपुरा इलाके में 27 वर्षीय सचिन के साथ रहते पकड़ा।

कथित तौर पर दोनों 2019 में ऑनलाइन गेम खेलते समय संपर्क में आए थे। सीमा के अपने पाकिस्तानी पति गुलाम हैदर से चार बच्चे है। गुलाम ने पहले अपने बच्चों का संरक्षण हासिल करने के लिए एक भारतीय वकील की सेवा ली थी।
जुलाई 2023 में सीमा और सचिन को गिरफ्तार किया गया था। सीमा पर अवैध रूप से भारत में प्रवेश करने का आरोप है, जबकि सचिन पर अवैध प्रवासी को शरण देने का मामला दर्ज किया गया था। बाद में, दोनों को जमानत पर रिहा कर दिया गया था।
