न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ फाइनल मुकाबले में टीम इंडिया के कप्तान रोहित शर्मा ने अपनी बल्ले से बेखौफ अंदाज दिखाया। रोहित ने इस मैच में 41 गेंदों पर अपना अर्धशतक पूरा किया था और 76 रन की पारी खेली। इस टूर्नामेंट में रोहित  की  पिछली पारी और फाइनल की इनिंग में फर्क में था कि कप्तान रोहित इस बार अलग इरादे के साथ खेलते हुए नजर आए।

रोहित ने सिर्फ अपना दृष्टिकोण बदला और भारत के लिए मैच जिताऊ पारी खेलने में सफल रहे जिसकी जरूरत टीम को सबसे ज्यादा थी। रोहित की पारी से ही टीम इंडिया को मजबूत स्टार्ट मिला और जीत का आधार भी मिला। भारत के फाइनल जीतने के बाद विरोधी कप्तान मिचेल सैंटनर ने भी भारतीय कप्तान रोहित शर्मा की जमकर प्रशंसा की और ये भी बताया कि आखिर क्यों उनके गेंदबाजों में रोहित को लेकर खौफ था। 

कीवी कप्तान ने कहा कि रोहित का दृष्टिकोण कुछ मौकों पर विफल हो सकता है, लेकिन बड़े मैचों में ये निर्णायक साबित हो सकता है। सैंटनर को लगता है कि रोहित के दृष्टिकोण ने उन्हें सुरुआत में ही बैकफुट पर ला दिया। सैंटनर ने कहा कि मुझे लगता है कि अगर आप टूर्नामेंट से पहले रोहित से पूछेंगे कि वह किस मैच में सबसे ज्यादा रन बनाना चाहेंगे, तो शायद वह फाइनल होगा, लेकिन मुझे लगता है कि उनका दृष्टिकोण गेंदबाजों में डल पैदा करता है। वे स्वभाव से आक्रामक हैं और मुझे लगता है कि वह और शुभमन गिल अच्छी तरह से तालमेल बिठाते हैं। शुभमन गिल खराब गेंद का इंतजार करेंगे, लेकिन रोहित गेंदबाजों को उनती लेंथ से ही खेलकर खुश होते हैं। वो इंतजार नहीं करते और इसका खौफ हमारी टीम के गेंदबाजों में भी था। 

सैंटनर ने आगे कहा कि, मुझे लगता है कि रोहित जिस तरह से खेलते हैं उसके बाद आप कुछ बार असफल हो सकते हैं लेकिन जैसा कि उन्होंने फाइनल में हमारे खिलाफ किया खास तौर पर इस तरह की  स्लो विकेट पर कमाल था। अगर आप अपनी टीम को इस तरह की शुरुआत देते हैं तो फिर आप मैच में खुद को आगे रख सकते हैं। आप देखों तो पावरप्ले के दौरान उनकी बल्लेबाजी बेहतरीन थी और हम वहां से ही बैकफुट पर आ गए। उन्होंने पूरी तरह से खेल को बदलकर रख दिया।
