डीसीपी जोन 9 दीक्षित गेदम ने आरोपी की गिरफ्तारी की जानकारी देते हुए कहा, ‘एक आरोपी को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। उसका नाम मोहम्मद शरीफुल इस्लाम शहजाद है, उसकी उम्र 30 साल है। वह लूटपाट के इरादे से घर में घुसा था। उसे कोर्ट में पेश किया जाएगा और हिरासत की मांग की जाएगी।’
अभिनेता सैफ अली खान पर हमला करने वाले आरोपी को मुंबई पुलिस ने गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। मुंबई पुलिस ने रविवार को महाराष्ट्र के ठाणे से आरोपी को गिरफ्तार किया। आरोपी की पहचान 30 वर्षीय मोहम्मद शरीफुल इस्लाम शहजाद के रूप में हुई है। बताया जा रहा है कि आरोपी बांग्लादेशी नागरिक है और अपनी पहचान बदलकर मुंबई में रह रहा था।
डीसीपी जोन 9 दीक्षित गेदम ने आरोपी की गिरफ्तारी की जानकारी देते हुए कहा, ’16 जनवरी को सुबह 2 बजे अभिनेता सैफ अली खान पर उनके घर पर हमला हुआ। एफआईआर दर्ज की गई है और एक आरोपी को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। उसका नाम मोहम्मद शरीफुल इस्लाम शहजाद है, उसकी उम्र 30 साल है। वह लूटपाट के इरादे से घर में घुसा था। उसे कोर्ट में पेश किया जाएगा और हिरासत की मांग की जाएगी।’
वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने आगे कहा, ‘प्रथम दृष्टया आरोपी बांग्लादेशी है और अवैध रूप से भारत में घुसने के बाद उसने अपना नाम बदल लिया था। वह अपने वर्तमान नाम के रूप में विजय दास का उपयोग कर रहा था। वह 5-6 महीने पहले मुंबई आया था। वह कुछ दिनों तक मुंबई में रहा और फिर मुंबई के आसपास के इलाकों में रहा। आरोपी एक हाउसकीपिंग एजेंसी में काम करता था।’

अधिकारी ने बताया कि उन्होंने मामले में पासपोर्ट अधिनियम की संबंधित धाराएं भी जोड़ी हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि आरोपी के बांग्लादेशी होने का अनुमान लगाने के लिए प्राथमिक सबूत हैं। उसके पास वैध भारतीय दस्तावेज नहीं हैं। कुछ जब्ती हैं जो संकेत देती हैं कि वह बांग्लादेशी नागरिक है। अभी तक, हमें लगता है कि आरोपी पहली बार (सैफ अली खान के) घर में घुसा है। हमें संदेह है कि आरोपी बांग्लादेशी मूल का है और इसीलिए मामले में पासपोर्ट अधिनियम की संबंधित धाराएं जोड़ी गई हैं।
अभिनेता सैफ अली खान पर बांद्रा के ‘सतगुरु शरण’ बिल्डिंग की 12वीं मंजिल पर स्थित उनके घर में बृहस्पतिवार को हमलावर ने कई बार चाकू से वार किया था। सैफ की आपातकालीन सर्जरी करने वाले चिकित्सकों ने बाद में उनकी रीढ़ से टूटे हुए चाकू का 2.5 इंच का टुकड़ा निकाला था। चिकित्सकों का कहना था कि अगर चाकू दो मिलीमीटर और अंदर घुस जाता तो गंभीर चोट लग सकती थी।
