मेलबर्न टेस्ट में दूसरे दिन भारतीय टीम औंधे मुंह गिरी है, टीम ने अपने पैरों पर खुद कुल्हाड़ी मार ली है। ऑस्ट्रेलिया के 474 रनों के जवाब में टीम इंडिया के बल्लेबाजों ने एक समय 2 विकेट के नुकसान पर 153 रन बना लिए थे और टीम एक बड़े स्कोर की तरफ बढ़ रही थी। तभी 41वें ओवर में यशस्वी जायसवाल 86 के स्कोर पर रन आउट हो गए। विराट कोहली के साथ तालमेल में कमी के चलते जायसवाल अपने शतक से चूक गए। अब एक तरफ टीम इंडिया पर फॉलोऑन का खतरा मुंडरा रहा है। वहीं जायसवाल के रन आउट पर इरफान पठान और संजय मांजरेकर में तीखी बहस का वीडियो सामने आया है। 

दूसरे दिन भारत ने 5 विकेट के नुकसान पर 164 रन बना लिए हैं और टीम अब भी पहली पारी में 310 रनों से पीछे है। दूसरे दिन का खेल खत्म होने के बाद इरफान पठान और संजय मांजरेकर और इरफान पठान, यशस्वी जायसवाल के रन आउट पर अपने-अपने रिएक्शन दे रहे थे। जहां मांजरेकर ने कोहली की जमकर आलोचना की वहीं इरफान उनसे उल्ट कोहली के समर्थन में थे। 

पहले संजय मांजरेकर ने अपना पक्ष रखते हुए कहा कि, गेंद धीमी रफ्तार से जा रही थी, मुझे नहीं लगता कि वहां विराट कोहली रन आउट हो जाते। ये जायसवाल का कॉल था, ये रन शायद खतरे में खाली नहीं था लेकिन डेंजर एंड की तरफ कोहली नहीं बल्कि जायसवाल भाग रहे थे। ये विराट द्वारा की गई बचकाना गलती रही कि उन्होंने पीछे मुड़ कर देखा और फैसला कर लिया कि ये रन नहीं है। अगर जायसवाल का फैसला गलत होता तो वो नॉन स्ट्राइकिंग एंड पर आउट हो जाते। 

संजय मांजरेकर के विचार का पलटवार करते हुए इरफान पठान ने कहा कि विराट कोहली शायद रन लेने को लेकर आश्वस्त नहीं थे क्योंकि गेंद तेजी से फील्डर के पास गई थी। साथ ही इरफान ने ये भी कहा कि नॉन-स्ट्राइकिंग एंड पर खड़े विराट कोहली का भी हक है कि वो रिस्क से बचने के लिए भागने से मना कर दें। इसके बाद संजय मांजरेकर ने कहा कि, अगर आप मुझे बात नहीं करने देना चाहते तो ठीक है।
