पार्टी की शुरुआत किशोर द्वारा चंपारण से राज्य की 3,000 किलोमीटर से अधिक लंबी ‘पदयात्रा’ शुरू करने के ठीक दो साल बाद हुई थी, जहाँ महात्मा गांधी ने देश में पहला सत्याग्रह शुरू किया था, जिसका उद्देश्य लोगों को एक “नए राजनीतिक विकल्प” के लिए संगठित करना था जो बिहार को उसके पुराने पिछड़ेपन से निजात दिला सके।
भारत के चुनाव आयोग ने बिहार में आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों से पहले जन सुराज पार्टी को आधिकारिक तौर पर “स्कूल बैग” चुनाव चिन्ह आवंटित कर दिया है। पार्टी के सभी 243 उम्मीदवार अब इसी नए चिन्ह के तहत चुनाव लड़ेंगे। यह घटनाक्रम राजनीतिक रणनीतिकार से कार्यकर्ता बने प्रशांत किशोर द्वारा 2 अक्टूबर, 2024 को अपने राजनीतिक संगठन जन सुराज पार्टी के शुभारंभ की घोषणा के आठ महीने बाद हुआ है। पार्टी का शुभारंभ राज्य की राजधानी के वेटनरी कॉलेज ग्राउंड में कई प्रसिद्ध हस्तियों की मौजूदगी में किया गया।

पूर्व भाजपा सांसद को जन सुराज पार्टी का पहला राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष चुना गया
पिछले महीने किशोर ने घोषणा की थी कि पूर्व भाजपा सांसद उदय सिंह को सर्वसम्मति से पार्टी का पहला राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष चुना गया है। पटना में एक प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस को संबोधित करते हुए किशोर ने कहा था कि अब वह जन संपर्क पर ध्यान केंद्रित करेंगे और संगठन चलाने की जिम्मेदारी उदय सिंह और आरसीपी सिंह जैसे लोगों को सौंपेंगे। किशोर ने यह भी कहा कि उदय सिंह, जिन्हें पार्टी को रसद सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए जाना जाता है, को इस उद्देश्य के लिए गठित एक समिति द्वारा “केवल बहुमत से नहीं, बल्कि सर्वसम्मति से” चुना गया था।
