कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री सिद्धारमैया ने बुधवार को बेंगलुरू भगदड़ को लेकर भाजपा द्वारा उनके इस्तीफे की मांग को खारिज करते हुए आरोप लगाया कि भाजपा हर चीज में राजनीति करती है। मुख्यमंत्री सिद्धारमैया ने सवाल उठाया कि इस साल की शुरुआत में प्रयागराज में कुंभ मेले के दौरान भगदड़ मचने पर भाजपा ने उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ के इस्तीफे की मांग क्यों नहीं की। सिद्धारमैया ने संवाददाताओं से बात करते हुए पूछा कि कुंभ मेले में भगदड़ में 40-50 लोग मारे गए। क्या तब उन्होंने मुख्यमंत्री के इस्तीफे की मांग की थी? उद्घाटन के दिन एक पुल ढह गया था और 140 लोग मारे गए थे। क्या तब उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री के इस्तीफे की मांग की थी?
सिद्धारमैया ने कहा, “बीजेपी को झूठ बोलकर और इस्तीफ़े की मांग करके लोगों को गुमराह करने की आदत है। बीजेपी हर चीज़ में राजनीति करती है।” इससे पहले, केंद्रीय मंत्री प्रहलाद जोशी ने रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु के आईपीएल जीत के जश्न के दौरान बेंगलुरु में मची भगदड़ को लेकर कर्नाटक सरकार की आलोचना की थी, जिसमें 11 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी। जोशी ने मुख्यमंत्री सिद्धारमैया और उपमुख्यमंत्री डीके शिवकुमार से तत्काल इस्तीफा देने की मांग की, क्योंकि उन्होंने भीड़ को “गैर-जिम्मेदाराना और असंवेदनशील” तरीके से संभाला।
चिन्नास्वामी स्टेडियम में भगदड़ की घटना से पहले 4 जून को विधान सौधा (राज्य विधानसभा) की भव्य सीढ़ियों पर रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु (RCB) टीम को कर्नाटक सरकार द्वारा आधिकारिक रूप से सम्मानित किया गया था। बेंगलुरु में हुई भगदड़ में 11 लोगों की मौत हो गई और कई लोग घायल हो गए, जिसके बाद कर्नाटक सरकार ने 5 जून को कब्बन पार्क पुलिस स्टेशन के शीर्ष पुलिस अधिकारियों को निलंबित कर दिया और घटना की जांच के लिए एक सेवानिवृत्त उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश की अध्यक्षता में एक सदस्यीय आयोग का गठन किया।
