पंजाब पुलिस के प्रोटोकॉल अधिकारी अरुण महल ने कहा कि आज 191 पाकिस्तानी नागरिक अटारी सीमा से पाकिस्तान के लिए रवाना हुए और 287 भारतीय नागरिक पाकिस्तान से वापस आए हैं। कल 28 पाकिस्तानी नागरिक अटारी सीमा से पाकिस्तान के लिए रवाना हुए थे।
जम्मू-कश्मीर के पहलगाम में हुए घातक आतंकवादी हमले के बाद भारत सरकार ने पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ अपनी कार्रवाई तेज कर दी है, जिस पर आतंकवाद को प्रायोजित करने का आरोप है। कड़े कदमों की एक श्रृंखला के तहत भारत ने पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों को जारी किए गए सभी वीजा रद्द कर दिए हैं और उन्हें तुरंत देश छोड़ने का आदेश दिया है। आदेश के प्रत्यक्ष परिणाम के रूप में, बड़ी संख्या में पाकिस्तानी नागरिक वाघा सीमा के माध्यम से स्वदेश लौटने लगे हैं। इस बीच, उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य ने भी राज्य में रह रहे पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों की पहचान करने और उन्हें निर्वासित करने की तैयारी शुरू कर दी है।

उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के अनुसार, वर्तमान में राज्य में 1,000 से 1,200 पाकिस्तानी नागरिक रह रहे हैं। हालांकि केंद्र सरकार का आधिकारिक निर्वासन आदेश अभी प्राप्त नहीं हुआ है, लेकिन निर्देश जारी होते ही प्रत्यावर्तन प्रक्रिया शुरू करने की तैयारी चल रही है। एक वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी ने पुष्टि की, “राज्य में पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों की पहचान करने की प्रक्रिया पहले ही शुरू हो चुकी है। एक बार जब हमें केंद्र से अंतिम निर्देश मिल जाते हैं, तो हम उन्हें वापस भेजने के लिए तदनुसार कार्रवाई करेंगे।”
केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने सभी राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्रियों से व्यक्तिगत रूप से संपर्क किया है और उन्हें अपने-अपने अधिकार क्षेत्र में पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों की पहचान करने और उन्हें तुरंत वापस भेजने का निर्देश दिया है। शाह ने त्वरित कार्रवाई करने और यह सुनिश्चित करने के महत्व पर जोर दिया कि भारत में वर्तमान में मौजूद पाकिस्तानी नागरिक बिना किसी देरी के अपने देश वापस लौटें। विदेश मंत्रालय ने घोषणा की है कि पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों को जारी सभी वैध वीज़ा 27 अप्रैल, 2025 से रद्द कर दिए जाएंगे।
