अधिकारियों ने बताया कि कश्मीर के लिए ट्रेन सेवा शुरू करने की तैयारियों को अंतिम रूप दिया जा रहा है और प्रधानमंत्री 6 जून को घाटी के लिए पहली ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखा सकते हैं। ट्रेन सेवा का शुभारंभ 19 अप्रैल को होना था, लेकिन उस दिन खराब मौसम की भविष्यवाणी के कारण इसे स्थगित कर दिया गया।
प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी संभवतः जून के पहले सप्ताह में श्री माता वैष्णो देवी जी मंदिर के आधार शिविर, पवित्र शहर कटरा से कश्मीर के लिए ट्रेन सेवाओं का उद्घाटन करेंगे, जिसके बाद कटरा और बारामूला के बीच वंदे भारत ट्रेन चलना शुरू हो जाएगी। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि कश्मीर के लिए ट्रेन सेवा शुरू करने की तैयारियों को अंतिम रूप दिया जा रहा है और प्रधानमंत्री 6 जून को घाटी के लिए पहली ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखा सकते हैं। ट्रेन सेवा का शुभारंभ 19 अप्रैल को होना था, लेकिन उस दिन खराब मौसम की भविष्यवाणी के कारण इसे स्थगित कर दिया गया।
22 अप्रैल को पहलगाम में हुए आतंकी हमले और उसके बाद ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के कारण इसमें और देरी हुई, जिसमें भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों ने 7-10 मई तक पाकिस्तान और पीओजेके में आतंकी ढांचे और सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों पर हमले किए। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि रेल लाइन खुलने से श्री अमरनाथ जी के यात्री कटरा से श्रीनगर जा सकेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर जरूरत पड़ी तो तीर्थयात्रियों की भीड़ को कम करने के लिए विशेष ट्रेनें चलाई जा सकती हैं, खासकर राजमार्ग अवरुद्ध होने की स्थिति में। अधिकारियों के अनुसार, वर्तमान में कटरा और बारामूला के बीच केवल वंदे भारत ट्रेन चलने की उम्मीद है। प्रधानमंत्री कटरा से बारामूला और बारामूला से कटरा के लिए वर्चुअली ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाएंगे। वह कटरा स्टेडियम में एक रैली को संबोधित करेंगे।
कटरा से ट्रेन सेवा को हरी झंडी दिखाने से पहले मोदी चेनाब नदी पर बने दुनिया के सबसे ऊंचे रेल पुल और रियासी जिले में रेलवे ट्रैक पर बने पहले केबल स्टे ब्रिज का दौरा कर सकते हैं। सूत्रों के अनुसार, शुरुआत में ट्रेन कटरा से बारामुल्ला तक चलेगी। हालांकि, प्लेटफॉर्म की संख्या बढ़ाने सहित जम्मू रेलवे स्टेशन पर विस्तार कार्य पूरा होने के बाद, घाटी के लिए ट्रेन जम्मू से परिचालन शुरू करेगी, जो संभवतः अगस्त-सितंबर में शुरू होगी। फिलहाल दिल्ली या किसी अन्य हिस्से से कश्मीर के लिए कोई सीधी ट्रेन नहीं होगी। यात्रियों को कटरा में उतरना होगा और ट्रेन बदलनी होगी। बाद में यही प्रक्रिया जम्मू में भी अपनाई जाएगी।
