वाईएसआर कडप्पा जिले में तेलुगु देशम पार्टी (टीडीपी) के वार्षिक महानाडु सभा में पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं को संबोधित करते हुए नायडू ने 500 रुपये, 1,000 रुपये और 2,000 रुपये जैसे बड़े नोटों को बंद करने की वकालत की और डिजिटल भुगतान को और अधिक बढ़ावा देने का आह्वान किया।

चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने कहा कि जब मैंने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को डिजिटल करेंसी की रिपोर्ट दी थी, तो मैंने उनसे एक ही बात कही थी कि जरूरत है 500, 1000 और 2000 के नोट छापना बंद कर दीजिए। डिजिटल करेंसी को सक्षम बनाइए और बढ़ावा दीजिए। मेरा उनसे यही सुझाव है कि फिर अगर कोई भ्रष्टाचार होगा तो हम आसानी से उसका पता लगा लेंगे। उन्होंने इस अवसर पर एक बार फिर केंद्र सरकार से इस सिफारिश पर कार्रवाई करने का आग्रह किया और कहा कि दुनिया अब तेजी से डिजिटल मुद्रा की ओर बढ़ रही है। आज इस सभा से मैं एक बार फिर अनुरोध करना चाहता हूँ, आज डिजिटल करेंसी का ज़माना है। 

नायडू ने कहा कि अगर किसी को पार्टी के कामों के लिए चंदा देना होता था तो हमें लिस्ट देखनी पड़ती थी, लेकिन अब सिर्फ़ एक क्यूआर कोड से कार्यकर्ता और आम जनता चंदा दे सकती है। 500, 1000 और 2000 के नोट बाँटने की ज़रूरत नहीं है। प्रस्ताव पर जनता से समर्थन का आह्वान करते हुए नायडू ने उपस्थित समर्थकों से उच्च मूल्य वाले नोटों को रद्द करने के पक्ष में हाथ उठाकर तालियां बजाने का आग्रह किया।
