अधिकारियों के अनुसार, भारत द्वारा लक्षित नौ ठिकानों में बहावलपुर में जैश-ए-तैयबा का मुख्यालय और मुरीदके में लश्कर-ए-तैयबा (एलईटी) शामिल हैं। ये दोनों ही पाकिस्तान के पंजाब में हैं। रक्षा मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में कहा कि सैन्य हमले ‘ऑपरेशन सिंदूर’ के तहत रात 1:44 बजे किए गए। इसने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों की कार्रवाई “सटीक, संयमित और तनाव को बढ़ाने से बचने के उद्देश्य से की गई।”
वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के अनुसार, दो सबसे बड़े हमले जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के गढ़ बहावलपुर और मुरीदके में किए गए, जिनमें प्रत्येक स्थान पर अनुमानित 25-30 आतंकवादी मारे गए। मुरीदके में, लक्ष्य मस्जिद वा मरकज तैयबा था, जो लश्कर का तंत्रिका केंद्र और वैचारिक मुख्यालय है, जिसे लंबे समय से पाकिस्तान की “आतंक नर्सरी” माना जाता है। खुफिया एजेंसियां अभी भी अन्य लक्षित स्थानों पर हताहतों की संख्या की पुष्टि कर रही हैं। प्रारंभिक आकलन से पता चलता है कि कुल मिलाकर 80 से 90 आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया गया।
