शीर्ष अदालत ने कहा कि वह पासपोर्ट वापस करने के रणवीर इलाहाबादिया के अनुरोध पर दो हफ्ते बाद विचार करेगी। पिछले महीने दोनों यूट्यूबर्स उस समय एक बड़े विवाद में घिर गए थे, जब अल्लाहबादिया ने शो के आखिरी एपिसोड में माता-पिता से जुड़ा जोक वायरल किया था। महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने कहा है कि जांच दो सप्ताह में पूरी कर ली जाएगी, अदालत ने मामले की अगली सुनवाई 21 अप्रैल को तय की। अदालत ने पहले इलाहाबादिया को बिना अनुमति के भारत छोड़ने पर रोक लगा दी थी।
सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने यूट्यूबर्स रणवीर अल्लाहबादिया और आशीष चंचलानी की उस याचिका पर विचार करने से इनकार कर दिया है, जिसमें उन्होंने अपने पासपोर्ट जारी करने की मांग की थी। रणवीर इलाहाबादिया ने आजीविका प्रभावित होने का हवाला देते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट से पासपोर्ट जमा करने की शर्त में संशोधन करने का अनुरोध किया। सॉलिसिटर जनरल तुषार मेहता ने उच्चतम न्यायालय से कहा कि रणवीर इलाहाबादिया से जुड़े मामले की जांच दो हफ्ते में पूरी होने की संभावना है।जस्टिस सूर्यकांत और एन कोटिश्वर सिंह की पीठ ने कहा कि इस याचिका पर तभी विचार किया जाएगा, जब ‘इंडियाज गॉट लेटेंट’ के अब डिलीट हो चुके एपिसोड में की गई उनकी टिप्पणियों की जांच पूरी हो जाएगी।

इससे पहले न्यायालय ने 18 फरवरी के अपने उस आदेश में बदलाव किया जिसमें उसने इलाहाबादिया और उनके सहयोगियों पर यूट्यूब या किसी अन्य दृश्य श्रव्य मंच पर कोई भी कार्यक्रम प्रसारित करने पर रोक लगायी थी। पीठ ने इलाहाबादिया को गिरफ्तारी से दिये गए अंतरिम संरक्षण को अगले आदेश तक बढ़ा दिया था तथा उन्हें गुवाहाटी में जांच में शामिल होने को कहा था। शीर्ष अदालत ने कार्यवाही के दायरे का भी विस्तार किया और केंद्र को सोशल मीडिया सामग्री पर एक मसौदा नियामक तंत्र के साथ आने का निर्देश दिया। शीर्ष अदालत ने यूट्यूबर आशीष चंचलानी की प्राथमिकियों को एक साथ जोड़ने की अर्जी को इलाहाबादिया की इसी तरह की याचिका के साथ सूचीबद्ध किया। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने 18 फरवरी को इलाहाबादिया को गिरफ्तारी से अंतरिम संरक्षण प्रदान किया था और उनकी टिप्पणी को ‘‘अश्लील’’ करार देते हुए कहा था कि उनकी ‘विकृत मानसिकता’ से समाज को शर्मिंदा होना पड़ा। इलाहाबादिया और रैना के अलावा असम में मामले में नामजद अन्य लोगों में कॉमेडियन चंचलानी, जसप्रीत सिंह और अपूर्वा मखीजा शामिल हैं।
