भाजपा की तेजतर्रार महिला विधायक केतकी सिंह ने उस समय विवाद खड़ा कर दिया जब उन्होंने उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ से मांग की कि मेडिकल कॉलेज में मुसलमानों के लिए एक अलग विंग और भवन बनाया जाए ताकि हिंदू सुरक्षित रह सकें। यूपी बजट में बलिया को मेडिकल कॉलेज की सौगात मिलने के बाद बीजेपी विधायक केतकी सिंह ने कहा कि मुसलमानों को होली, रामनवमी और दुर्गा पूजा से दिक्कत होती है, इसलिए उन्हें हमारे यहां इलाज कराने में भी दिक्कत हो सकती है। इसलिए उनके लिए अलग विंग और बिल्डिंग बनाई जानी चाहिए। 

भाजपा विधायक ने आगे कहा कि हमें नहीं पता कि वे थूक कर हमें क्या देते हैं। इसलिए हम मुख्यमंत्री से अनुरोध करते हैं कि जब मेडिकल कॉलेज बन रहा है तो एक अलग विंग भी बनाया जाए ताकि हम सुरक्षित महसूस कर सकें। विधायक के इस बयान पर विपक्ष ने तीखी प्रतिक्रिया दी है। समाजवादी पार्टी और कांग्रेस नेताओं ने इसे सांप्रदायिक सौहार्द बिगाड़ने की साजिश बताया है। हालांकि, भाजपा की ओर से इस पर अभी तक कोई आधिकारिक प्रतिक्रिया नहीं आई है।

उन्होंने कहा कि संभल में एक बहादुर पुलिसकर्मी ने साफ कहा कि साल में 52 जुमे होते हैं लेकिन होली साल में एक बार ही आती है। तो मैंने सोचा कि अगर गलती से कुछ हो गया तो ये रोना गैंग सड़कों पर आ जाएगा। तो उस आधार पर मुझे लगता है कि अगर इन्हें हमारे लोगों से इतना डर ​​है तो बलिया में जो मेडिकल कॉलेज बन रहा है उसमें इनके लिए अलग से विंग क्यों नहीं बना दी जाए जहां ये आकर अपना इलाज कराएंगे। आपने वो वीडियो देखे होंगे जिनसे पूरा इंटरनेट भरा पड़ा है, फलों पर थूकना, सब्जियों पर थूकना, पेशाब मिलाना। मैं सीएम से मांग करती हूं कि इनके लिए अलग से विंग बना दी जाए ताकि इनका मानसिक और शारीरिक इलाज हो सके। 

बलिया में मेडिकल कॉलेज बनवाना बड़ी उपलब्धि मानी जा रही थी, लेकिन विधायक के बयान के बाद यह मामला राजनीतिक रंग लेता नजर आ रहा है। अब देखना यह है कि योगी सरकार इस पर क्या रुख अपनाती है। हिमाचल प्रदेश के मंत्री विक्रमादित्य सिंह ने कहा कि यह टिप्पणी बहुत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है और संविधान की भावना के खिलाफ है। इस तरह के बयान देकर लोगों को बांटना बहुत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और निंदनीय है। हर व्यक्ति को शिक्षा का अधिकार है। कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए क्योंकि इस तरह के बयान देश के हित में नहीं हैं।
