बेथ मूनी की नाबाद 96 रनों की पारी की बदौलत गुजरात जायंट्स ने महिला प्रीमियर लीग (डब्लूपीएल) के एकतरफा मैच में सोमवार को यहां यूपी वॉरियर्स को 81 रनों से करारी शिकस्त दी। मूनी इस डब्ल्यूपीएल सत्र में किसी भी खिलाड़ी का पहला शतक बनाने से चूक गईं
लखनऊ । बेथ मूनी की नाबाद 96 रनों की पारी की बदौलत गुजरात जायंट्स ने महिला प्रीमियर लीग (डब्लूपीएल) के एकतरफा मैच में सोमवार को यहां यूपी वॉरियर्स को 81 रनों से करारी शिकस्त दी। मूनी इस डब्ल्यूपीएल सत्र में किसी भी खिलाड़ी का पहला शतक बनाने से चूक गईं, लेकिन उनकी 59 गेंदों पर 17 चौकों की मदद से खेली गई नाबाद पारी की बदौलत गुजरात जायंट्स ने पांच विकेट पर 186 रन का बड़ा स्कोर खड़ा किया जिसके दबाव में यूपी की टीम ने घुटने टेक दिये।
जीत के लिए 187 रनों के लक्ष्य का पीछा करते हुए यूपी वॉरियर्स की टीम 17.1 ओवरों में केवल 105 रन ही बना सकी जो इस लीग में टीम का सबसे छोटा स्कोर है। इस जीत से गुजरात की टीम अंक तालिका में पांचवें स्थान से दूसरे स्थान पर पहुंच गयी जबकि मैच से पहले तीसरे स्थान पर रहने वाली यूपी की टीम पांचवें स्थान पर खिसक गयी। यूपी वॉरियर्स की शुरुआत बेहद खराब रही। पहले ओवर में ही डिएंड्रा डॉटिन (14 रन पर दो विकेट) ने दो झटके दिये। किरण नवगिरे और डब्ल्यूपीएल का अपना पहला मैच खेल रही जॉर्जिया वोल खाता खोलो बगैर पवेलियन लौट गयी। 36 रन तक यूपी की आधी टीम पवेलियन में थी।
काशवी गौतम (11 रन पर तीन विकेट), मेघना सिंह (21 रन पर एक विकेट), तनुजा कंवर (17 रन पर तीन विकेट) और एशले गार्डनर (नौ रन पर एक विकेट) ने महत्वपूर्ण सफलता हासिल कीं। यूपी वारियर्स का शीर्ष क्रम नयी गेंद के साथ शुरुआती स्विंग के खिलाफ संघर्ष करता दिखा। सलामी बल्लेबाज ग्रेस हैरिस ने पगबाधा अपील से बचने के बाद ने तीन चौके की मदद से 30 गेंदों पर 25 रन बनाए। यूपी वारियर्स के मध्य क्रम में कोई भी भारतीय बल्लेबाज स्कोरर को परेशान नहीं कर सका।
वृंदा दिनेश एक रन बनाकर आउट हुईं, कप्तान दीप्ति शर्मा ने छह और श्वेता सेहरावत ने पांच रन बनाए। शिनेल हेनरी ने 14 गेंदों में तीन चौकों और दो छक्कों की मदद से 28 रन बनाए और उमा छेत्री ने 17 रन का योगदान दिया लेकिन उनके प्रयास कुछ हद तक हार के अंतर को कम ही कर सके। इससे पहले मूनी ने अपनी 59 गेंद की नाबाद पारी में मैदान के चारों ओर 17 चौके जड़े। उन्हें आखिरी ओवर में शतक तक पहुंचने के लिए 10 रन की जरूरत थी लेकिन वह तीन गेंद में छह रन ही बना सकी। दयालन हेमलता (दो) के आउट होने के बाद बायें हाथ की सलामी बल्लेबाज मूनी ने हरलीन देओल (45) के साथ दूसरे विकेट के लिए 68 गेंद में 101 रन की साझेदारी कर टीम के लिए बड़े स्कोर की नींव रखी। वह इस दौरान शानदार लय में दिखी।
उन्हें फ्लिक और ड्राइव की मदद से क्षेत्ररक्षकों के बीच से गेंद को निकाल कर स्कोरबोर्ड को तेजी से चलाये रखने में कोई परेशानी नहीं हुई। हरलीन ने 32 गेंद की पारी में छह चौके जड़े। वह मौजूदा सत्र में अपनी सर्वश्रेष्ठ पारी को अर्धशतक में बदलने में नाकाम रही। सोफी एक्लेस्टन ने मेजबान यूपी वॉरियर्स के लिए यहां के इकाना स्टेडियम में सत्र के पहले मैच में 34 रन देकर दो विकेट चटाये। उन्होंने हरलीन को आउट करने के बाद खतरनाक ड्रियंड्रा डॉटिन (17) को चलता किया। गुजरात जायंट्स की कप्तान गर्डनर (11) और फोबे लिचफील्ड (आठ) तेजी से रन बनाने की कोशिश में अपना विकेट जल्दी गंवा बैठी।
