नयी दिल्ली । दक्षिण अफ्रीका के महान तेज गेंदबाज डेल स्टेन का मानना है कि तेजी से आगे बढ़ रही अफगानिस्तान की टीम के खिलाड़ी अगर मैदान पर सयंम से खेलना सीख लें तो अगले दशक में अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आईसीसी) का सीमित ओवर का टूर्नामेंट जीत सकती है। अफगानिस्तान की टीम 2023 वनडे विश्व कप में नॉकआउट में जगह बनाने के करीब पहुंच गई थी जिसमें उसने पूर्व चैंपियन इंग्लैंड, श्रीलंका और पाकिस्तान को हराया था। पिछले साल के टी20 विश्व कप में टीम सेमीफाइनल में पहुंची थी जिसमें उसने ऑस्ट्रेलिया को बाहर कर दिया था।
अपने देश में युद्ध और अस्थिरता के बावजूद अफगानिस्तान क्रिकेट टीम अब सफेद गेंद के टूर्नामेंट में मजबूत टीम बन गई है। स्टेन ने ‘ईएसपीएनक्रिकइंफो’ से कहा, ‘‘हम ऐसे समय में जी रहे हैं जिसमें लोग इतने संयमित नहीं हैं। हम इंस्टाग्राम स्टोरी को भी महज मुश्किल से दो सेकेंड देख पाते हैं और ऐसा लगता है कि अफगानिस्तान के खिलाड़ी भी क्रिकेट खेलते समय ऐसे ही होते हैं। ’’
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘संयम सबसे बड़ी चीज में से एक है जिसे अफगानिस्तान के खिलाड़ियों को सीखने की जरूरत है। और एक बार जब वे ऐसा कर लेंगे तो अगले दशक में वे निश्चित रूप से आईसीसी टूर्नामेंट जीत सकते हैं। ’’ स्टेन ने कहा, ‘‘वे चाहते हैं कि चीजें इतनी जल्दी हो जायें कि हर गेंद विकेट लेने वाली होनी चाहिए। पारी बनाते हुए और विकेट लेने के लिए संयम नहीं है। बल्लेबाज भी ऐसा ही करते हैं। पहले ओवर में बल्लेबाजी में ही क्रीज पर इतनी अधिक हलचल होती क्योंकि वे छक्का मारने की कोशिश करते हैं और वे पारी को तेजी से आगे बढ़ाने की कोशिश करते हैं। ’’
अफगानिस्तान की टीम इंग्लैंड को हराने के बाद सेमीफाइनल में पहुंचने के लिए ऑस्ट्रेलिया और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के साथ तीन तरफा मुकाबले में थी। लेकिन दक्षिण अफ्रीका से पहले मैच में हारने और फिर ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ वर्चुअल क्वार्टरफाइनल के बारिश की भेंट चढ़ने से उसे काफी नुकसान हुआ। आंकड़ों के हिसाब से अफगानिस्तान की टीम अब भी क्वालीफाई कर सकती है, अगर इंग्लैंड की टीम शनिवार को दक्षिण अफ्रीका पर बड़े अंतर से जीत दर्ज कर ले। लेकिन इसकी संभावना कम है क्योंकि दक्षिण अफ्रीका का नेट रेट 2.140 है जो अफगानिस्तान के माइनस 0.990 से काफी बेहतर है।
