सुनक ने यूके में ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय और अमेरिका में स्टैनफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय में नई शैक्षणिक भूमिकाएँ निभाई हैं – दोनों उत्तरी इंग्लैंड में रिचमंड और नॉर्थहेलर्टन के लिए कंजर्वेटिव पार्टी के संसद सदस्य हैं। ब्रिटेन के प्रमुख विश्वविद्यालय ने एक घोषणा में कहा था कि पूर्व ब्रिटिश प्रधान मंत्री वर्ल्ड लीडर्स सर्कल के सदस्य और एक प्रतिष्ठित फेलो के रूप में ऑक्सफोर्ड के ब्लावातनिक स्कूल ऑफ गवर्नमेंट में शामिल हुए।

ऋषि सुनक को पहले उनकी सास और राज्यसभा सांसद सुधा मूर्ति से प्रशंसा मिली थी क्योंकि उन्होंने कहा था कि सुनक में अच्छे भारतीय सांस्कृतिक मूल्य हैं जो ब्रिटेन में उनके माता-पिता की परवरिश से सीखे गए हैं। पिछले साल लंदन में भारतीय विद्या भवन के वार्षिक दिवाली समारोह में एक मुख्य भाषण देते हुए, सुधा मूर्ति ने ऋषि सुनक के माता-पिता, उषा और यशवीर सुनक की उपस्थिति में कहा कि मैं हमेशा मानती हूं कि जब आप विदेश में होते हैं, तो आपके माता-पिता को दो काम करने चाहिए। एक है अच्छी शिक्षा, जो बदले में आपको पंख देती है और आप कहीं भी उड़कर बस सकते हैं।
