मंगलवार को सुबह 6.30 बजे, देश भर से आए 101 पुजारियों ने राम मंदिर परिसर के आठ मंदिरों में प्राण प्रतिष्ठा अनुष्ठान शुरू किया। इसमें वैदिक पूजा, 1,975 मंत्रों का जाप, तथा राम रक्षा स्तोत्र, हनुमान चालीसा और यज्ञ (अग्नि अनुष्ठान) जैसे विभिन्न आध्यात्मिक प्रसाद शामिल हैं।
यूपी के उपमुख्यमंत्री केशव प्रसाद मौर्य ने बड़ा बयान देते हुए कहा है कि आज भगवान राम के हर भक्त और श्री राम जन्मभूमि आंदोलन से जुड़े लोगों के लिए गर्व का दिन है। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर पीएम मोदी प्रधानमंत्री नहीं बनते, तो हम अभी भी श्री राम जन्मभूमि पर मंदिर बनाने के लिए लड़ रहे होते। अयोध्या शहर उच्च सुरक्षा के बीच है क्योंकि श्री राम जन्मभूमि मंदिर में प्राण प्रतिष्ठा समारोह का दूसरा चरण मंगलवार, 3 जून को शुरू हुआ। तीन दिवसीय कार्यक्रम 5 जून को समाप्त होगा, जिस दिन गंगा दशहरा भी है।

मुख्य प्राण प्रतिष्ठा समारोह 5 जून को होगा, जब मुख्य मंदिर की पहली मंजिल पर भगवान राम, सीता, लक्ष्मण और हनुमान की मूर्तियों की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा की जाएगी। इसके साथ ही परिसर में बने सात अन्य नवनिर्मित मंदिरों की मूर्तियों की भी प्राण प्रतिष्ठा की जाएगी। यह समारोह कथित तौर पर कांची कामकोटि पीठम के जगद्गुरु शंकराचार्य विजयेंद्र सरस्वती द्वारा दिए गए शुभ मुहूर्त के तहत आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
