जम्मू-कश्मीर के पहलगाम में पर्यटकों को निशाना बनाकर किए गए एक दुर्लभ आतंकी हमले में एक व्यक्ति की मौत हो गई और बारह अन्य घायल हो गए। यह हमला मंगलवार दोपहर करीब 2:30 बजे हुआ, जब पहलगाम के बैसरन मैदान में वर्दी पहने आतंकवादियों के एक समूह ने पर्यटकों पर गोलियां चला दीं। हमले की जगह से मिली तस्वीरों में शव बिखरे पड़े थे और कुछ महिलाएं रोती हुई दिखाई दे रही थीं, जबकि स्थानीय लोग उनकी मदद के लिए दौड़े। एक प्रत्यक्षदर्शी ने बताया कि अज्ञात बंदूकधारियों ने पर्यटकों पर नजदीक से गोलियां चलाईं, जिससे कई लोग घायल हो गए।

बैसरन घास का मैदान पहलगाम हिल स्टेशन से लगभग 5 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है और यहाँ केवल पैदल या टट्टू द्वारा ही पहुँचा जा सकता है। हमले के तुरंत बाद सुरक्षा बलों ने इलाके की घेराबंदी कर दी। पाकिस्तान स्थित आतंकी समूह लश्कर-ए-तैयबा की स्थानीय शाखा द रेजिस्टेंस फ्रंट ने हमले की जिम्मेदारी ली है। आतंकी हमले के बाद केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने एक उच्च स्तरीय बैठक बुलाई है। इस बैठक में गृह सचिव, इंटेलिजेंस ब्यूरो और गृह मंत्रालय के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी शामिल हो रहे हैं। जम्मू-कश्मीर के पुलिस महानिदेशक (DGP) समेत सभी अधिकारी वर्चुअली इस बैठक में शामिल हो रहे हैं।
