दिल्ली में राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी (एनआईए) मुख्यालय में लगातार चौथे दिन भी गहन पूछताछ जारी रही, क्योंकि अधिकारियों ने पाकिस्तानी मूल के कनाडाई व्यवसायी तहव्वुर राणा से 2008 के मुंबई आतंकवादी हमलों में उसकी कथित भूमिका के बारे में पूछताछ की। सूत्रों के अनुसार, जांचकर्ता अब हमलों के लिए टोही मिशन को अंजाम देने वाले दोषी ऑपरेटिव डेविड कोलमैन हेडली के साथ इंटरसेप्ट की गई बातचीत को सत्यापित करने के लिए राणा की आवाज के नमूने एकत्र करने पर विचार कर रहे हैं। राणा, जिसे पिछले सप्ताह संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका से भारत प्रत्यर्पित किया गया था, से पाकिस्तान की जासूसी एजेंसी, इंटर-सर्विसेज इंटेलिजेंस (ISI) और आतंकी समूह लश्कर-ए-तैयबा (LeT) के साथ उसके संदिग्ध संबंधों के संबंध में पूछताछ की जा रही है, जिसने 26/11 के हमलों की साजिश रची थी जिसमें 160 से अधिक लोग मारे गए थे।

जांचकर्ताओं का मानना है कि राणा ने हेडली को जमीन पर रसद और परिचालन कार्यों को अंजाम देने में मदद करने के लिए ‘कर्मचारी बी’ के रूप में पहचाने जाने वाले एक कर्मचारी को निर्देश दिया था। एनआईए अब साजिश को और उजागर करने और अन्य खिलाड़ियों की पहचान करने के लिए राणा का इस पूर्व कर्मचारी से सामना कराने की तैयारी कर रही है। 64 वर्षीय राणा को गुरुवार को भारत लाया गया और वह वर्तमान में 18 दिनों की एनआईए हिरासत में है। उस पर भारतीय कानून की कई धाराओं के तहत आरोप लगाए गए हैं, जिनमें साजिश, हत्या, आतंकवादी गतिविधियाँ और जालसाजी शामिल हैं।
