सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सोमवार को वक्फ (संशोधन) अधिनियम, 2025 को चुनौती देने वाली याचिकाओं पर तत्काल सुनवाई से इनकार करते हुए कहा कि ऐसे मामलों से निपटने के लिए एक व्यवस्था मौजूद है। याचिका में नए अधिसूचित वक्फ (संशोधन) अधिनियम, 2025 की संवैधानिक वैधता को चुनौती दी गई है और केंद्र को कानून को लागू करने को स्थगित करने के निर्देश देने की मांग की गई है। वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता कपिल सिब्बल ने भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश (सीजेआई) संजीव खन्ना की अगुवाई वाली पीठ के समक्ष जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिंद के अध्यक्ष मौलाना अरशद मदनी द्वारा दायर याचिका का उल्लेख किया।

केंद्र द्वारा कानून की अधिसूचना के बाद से वक्फ अधिनियम संशोधन से उत्पन्न कई याचिकाओं का उल्लेख शीर्ष अदालत के समक्ष किया गया है। राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने शनिवार को वक्फ (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2025 को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी, जिसे पहले दोनों सदनों में गरमागरम बहस के बाद संसद द्वारा पारित किया गया था। इस अधिनियम की वैधता को चुनौती देते हुए सर्वोच्च न्यायालय में अनेक याचिकाएं दायर की गई हैं, जिनमें से एक याचिका समस्त केरल जमीयतुल उलेमा की है।
