टेस्ट क्रिकेट के लिए साल 2025 काफी उतार-चढ़ाव से भरा रहा। इस साल कई इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट के दिग्गजों ने टेस्ट को अलविदा कह दिया। भारतीय क्रिकेट के स्टार खिलाड़ी रोहित शर्मा, विराट कोहली ने भी टेस्ट क्रिकेट को अलविदा कहा। वहीं अब इस कड़ी में श्रीलंका के दिग्गज बल्लेबाज एंजेलो मैथ्यूज का नाम भी जुड़ गया है। श्रीलंका की टीम का बांग्लादेश के साथ कोलंबो में टेस्ट मैच चल रहा है। एंजेलो मैथ्यूज आज अपने ही देश की धरती पर आखिरी टेस्ट मैच खेल रहे हैं। 

श्रीलंका के दिग्गज बल्लेबाज एंजेलो मैथ्यूज जब बांग्लादेश बनाम श्रीलंका मैच के तीसरे दिन बल्लेबाजी करने मैदान पर उतरे तो उस दौरान बांग्लादेश के खिलाड़ियों ने मैथ्यूज को गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर के साथ मैदान पर उनका स्वागत किया। बांग्लादेश के प्लेयर्स दो लाइन बनाकर खड़े हुए, जिसके बीच से एंजेलो मैथ्यूज गुजरे और खिलाड़ियों ने मैदान पर उनका ताली बजाकर स्वागत किया। 

एंजेलो मैथ्यूज ने अपने आखिरी मैच में 69 गेंदों में 56.52 के स्ट्राइक रेट से 39 रन बनाए। टेस्ट करियर की अपनी इस आखिरी पारी में मैथ्यूज ने तीन चौके और एक छक्का लगाया। मैथ्यूज बेहतर बल्लेबाजी कर रहे थे, लेकिन इस मैच में श्रीलंका के स्टार खिलाड़ी अर्धशतक बनाने से चूक गए। मैच की परिस्थिति के मुताबिक ये पारी मैथ्यूज के टेस्ट करियर की आखिरी पारी हो सकती है। 

एंजेलो मैथ्यूज अपना 119वां टेस्ट मैच खेल रहे हैं। अपने टेस्ट करियर में मैथ्यूज ने 8,206 रन बना लिए हैं। मैथ्यूज का हाईएस्ट स्कोर नाबाद 200 रन है। मैथ्यूज की टेस्ट में औसत 45 के करीब है।
