पंजाब पुलिस ने मंगलवार को तरनतारन से गगनदीप सिंह नामक एक व्यक्ति को गिरफ्तार किया है, जिस पर ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के दौरान भारतीय सेना की गतिविधियों के बारे में पाकिस्तान की इंटर-सर्विसेज इंटेलिजेंस (आईएसआई) के साथ कथित तौर पर जानकारी साझा करने का आरोप है। पंजाब के पुलिस महानिदेशक गौरव यादव ने बताया कि गगनदीप सिंह पाकिस्तान स्थित खालिस्तान समर्थक नेता गोपाल सिंह चावला के भी संपर्क में था। पुलिस ने एक मोबाइल फोन भी बरामद किया है, जिसमें खुफिया जानकारी है जिसे उसने पाकिस्तानी खुफिया अधिकारियों (पीआईओ) के साथ साझा किया था, तथा 20 से अधिक आईएसआई संपर्कों का विवरण भी है।

काउंटर-इंटेलिजेंस-पंजाब से प्राप्त सूचना पर त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए तरण-तारन पुलिस ने एक संयुक्त अभियान में गगनदीप सिंह उर्फ ​​गगन को गिरफ्तार किया। पंजाब के डीजीपी ने कहा कि जांच से पता चला है कि वह सैन्य तैनाती और रणनीतिक स्थानों सहित गोपनीय विवरण साझा करने में शामिल था, जिससे राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा को खतरा पैदा हो रहा था। पुलिस के मुताबिक गगनदीप सिंह पिछले पांच सालों से गोपाल सिंह चावला के संपर्क में था, जिसके जरिए उसे पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसियों (पीआईओ) से मिलवाया गया था। उन्होंने बताया कि उसे भारतीय चैनलों के जरिए पीआईओ से भुगतान भी मिलता था। अन्य संबंधों का पता लगाने और इस जासूसी नेटवर्क के पूर्ण दायरे को स्थापित करने के लिए गहन वित्तीय और तकनीकी जांच चल रही है। पीएस सिटी, तरनतारन में आधिकारिक गोपनीयता अधिनियम के तहत एक प्राथमिकी दर्ज की गई है और आगे की जांच जारी है।

उन्होंने कहा कि पंजाब पुलिस राष्ट्र की संप्रभुता और अखंडता की रक्षा के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है और राष्ट्र विरोधी गतिविधियों में शामिल लोगों के खिलाफ सभी आवश्यक कार्रवाई करेगी। ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के तहत, भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों ने 7 मई को तड़के पाकिस्तान और पाकिस्तान के कब्जे वाले कश्मीर में नौ आतंकी ठिकानों पर मिसाइल हमले किए, जिनमें बहावलपुर का जैश-ए-मोहम्मद का गढ़ और मुरीदके में लश्कर-ए-तैयबा का ठिकाना शामिल था। यह हमला 22 अप्रैल को पहलगाम में हुए आतंकी हमले के जवाब में किया गया था, जिसमें 26 लोगों की जान चली गई थी।
