‘माणिक्य’ और ‘पटकी’ जैसी कन्नड़ फिल्मों में अपनी भूमिकाओं के लिए मशहूर रान्या को इस सप्ताह की शुरुआत में राजस्व खुफिया निदेशालय (डीआरआई) ने सोने की तस्करी के मामले में कथित तौर पर 3 मार्च को दुबई से लौटने के बाद केम्पेगौड़ा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे (केआईए) पर हिरासत में लिया था। रान्या राव ने अपने बयान में कहा कि उनका मुकदमा निष्पक्ष था।
कन्नड़ अभिनेत्री रान्या राव इस सप्ताह के शुरू में केम्पेगौड़ा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर 14 किलोग्राम तस्करी के सोने के साथ गिरफ्तार हुई है। उनके पास से जांच टीम को सोना भी बरामद हुआ है। सोना मिलने के बाद से ही कन्नड अभिनेत्री रान्या राव की मुसिबतें कम होने का नाम नहीं ले रही है। मीडिया रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, अभिनेत्री ने इस बात को कबूल किया है। उन्होंने अपने बयान में यह भी कहा कि उन्हें पर्याप्त आराम नहीं मिल रहा था। रान्या को 4 मार्च से 18 मार्च तक न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया।
‘मैं थक गई हूं’- अभिनेत्री
रान्या राव ने अपने बयान में कहा, “मैंने यूरोप, अमेरिका और मध्य पूर्व की यात्रा की है और दुबई, सऊदी अरब का दौरा किया है। मैं यह बताना चाहती हूं कि मैं इस समय थकी हुई हूं क्योंकि मुझे पर्याप्त आराम नहीं मिला।” उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि उन्हें खाना दिया गया था लेकिन उन्होंने कुछ नहीं खाया। रान्या राव ने अपने बयान में कहा कि उनका मुकदमा निष्पक्ष था तथा उन्होंने कहा कि उनका इकबालिया बयान स्वेच्छा से तथा बिना किसी दबाव के दिया गया था।

वह कर्नाटक राज्य पुलिस आवास निगम के पुलिस महानिदेशक (डीजीपी) रामचंद्र राव की सौतेली बेटी हैं। उन्होंने कहा है कि वह उनके व्यावसायिक मामलों से पूरी तरह “अनभिज्ञ” थे। एएनआई को दिए गए बयान में डीजीपी राव ने कहा कि चार महीने पहले जतिन हुक्केरी से शादी के बाद वह कभी उनके घर नहीं आई। डीजीपी राव ने अपनी सौतेली बेटी के सोने की तस्करी से कथित संबंध के बारे में सुनकर हैरानी और निराशा भी जताई।
