शरद पवार और अजित पवार के बीच हुई बैठकों के बाद राजनीतिक अटकलों के मद्देनजर, एनसीपी (एसपी) नेता अनिल देशमुख ने एनसीपी गुटों के बीच फिर से एकीकरण की किसी भी धारणा को मजबूती से खारिज कर दिया। देशमुख के अनुसार ये बैठकें विलय पर चर्चा से संबंधित नहीं हैं, बल्कि चीनी और शैक्षणिक संस्थानों से संबंधित नियमित मामलों के इर्द-गिर्द थीं। अधूरे प्रशासनिक कर्तव्यों पर प्रकाश डालते हुए, देशमुख ने राज्य से सुप्रीम कोर्ट के निर्देश के अनुसार स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों में तेजी लाने का आग्रह किया।
देशमुख ने पेयजल, लंबित नागरिक चुनाव और खाली पड़े अभिभावक मंत्री पदों जैसे महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों की उपेक्षा करने के लिए सरकार की आलोचना की और तत्काल शासन सुधार पर जोर दिया। देशमुख ने मालेगांव में हुए भर्ती घोटाले की ओर भी ध्यान आकर्षित किया, जिसमें 100 से अधिक फर्जी शिक्षक नियुक्तियों का आरोप लगाया गया। उन्होंने गहन जांच की मांग की और शिक्षा क्षेत्र में प्रशासनिक जवाबदेही पर सवाल उठाते हुए चेतावनी दी कि अगर त्वरित कदम नहीं उठाए गए तो कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
राज्य के पूर्व गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि ऐसी बैठकें होती रहती हैं। राज्य में लंबित निकाय चुनावों के मुद्दे पर देशमुख ने कहा कि चुनाव उच्चतम न्यायालय के आदेशों के अनुसार होना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘स्वच्छ पेयजल और सरकार से जुड़े मुद्दे लंबित हैं, चुनावों में और देरी नहीं होनी चाहिए।’’ बृहन्मुंबई महानगर पालिका (बीएमसी) सहित कई नगर निकायों के चुनाव लंबे समय से लंबित हैं। पिछले माह उच्चतम न्यायालय ने राज्य निर्वाचन आयोग को चार माह के भीतर निकाय चुनाव कराने का निर्देश दिया था। रायगढ़ और नासिक के प्रभारी मंत्रियों की नियुक्ति नहीं किए जाने के मुद्दे पर देशमुख ने कहा, ‘‘यह निराशाजनक है कि प्रमुख प्रशासनिक पद खाली हैं। हमें बेहतर शासन के लिए एक साथ आने और इसे हल करने की आवश्यकता है।’
