लोकसभा और राज्यसभा के टीएमसी सदस्यों ने पुराने संसद भवन संविधान सदन के सेंट्रल हॉल में बैठक की। बैठक के बाद राज्यसभा में पार्टी की उपनेता सागरिका घोष ने कहा कि हम सभी ने प्रधानमंत्री को एक पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं, जिसमें अनुरोध किया गया है कि 5 जून को सांसदों के प्रतिनिधिमंडल के स्वदेश लौटने के बाद संसद का एक विशेष सत्र आयोजित किया जाए।
पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री और तृणमूल कांग्रेस सुप्रीमो ममता बनर्जी ने भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच सीमा पार हाल ही में हुए तनाव पर चर्चा के लिए संसद का विशेष सत्र बुलाने की विपक्षी नेताओं की मांग को समर्थन दिया। इसी बीच तृणमूल कांग्रेस के सांसदों ने मंगलवार को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को पत्र लिखकर उनसे संसद का विशेष सत्र आयोजित करने का आग्रह किया, ताकि पहलगाम हमले और ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के मद्देनजर आतंकवाद से निपटने के लिए उठाए गए कदमों के बारे में लोगों को जानकारी दी जा सके।

घोष ने कहा, “अखिल भारतीय तृणमूल कांग्रेस की अध्यक्ष और बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने कहा है कि हमने पाकिस्तान आधारित आतंकवाद के खिलाफ भारत के संकल्प के बारे में बात करने के लिए विदेश गए प्रतिनिधिमंडल में प्रतिभागियों को भेजने में भारत सरकार के साथ पूरा सहयोग किया है, लेकिन हमारे नेता ने कहा है कि संसद का एक विशेष सत्र बुलाने का समय आ गया है, क्योंकि भारत के नागरिकों को भी पाकिस्तान आधारित आतंकवाद से निपटने में सरकार के कदमों के बारे में जानने की जरूरत है।”
सांसदों ने पहलगाम हमले और उसके बाद की कार्रवाई में जान गंवाने वालों के सम्मान में बैठक में एक मिनट का मौन भी रखा। पहलगाम आतंकी हमले के बाद से विपक्षी दल संसद का विशेष सत्र बुलाने की मांग कर रहे हैं। ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के बारे में सांसदों को जानकारी देने के लिए आयोजित सर्वदलीय बैठक में भी यह मांग उठाई गई। पहलगाम आतंकी हमले और ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के बाद आतंकवाद के खिलाफ जीरो टॉलरेंस के भारत के संदेश को पहुंचाने के लिए भारत ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के सदस्यों सहित प्रमुख साझेदार देशों में सात बहुदलीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल भेजे हैं।
